This delightful dish combines the sweetness of corn fritters, or dadar jagung, with the rich, savory flavors of bacem tempeh, resulting in a satisfying meal that is both easy to prepare and full of flavor. Perfect for a snack or as a side dish, this recipe will surely impress your family and friends!

Ingredients

Bakwan (Corn Fritters)
1 ear corn, cleaned and kernels removed
1 sachet tepung bakwan (fritter flour), brand Kobe
A few stalks of celery, cleaned and coarsely chopped
Water (enough for a thick batter)
2 shallots, ground
1 curly red chili, ground with the shallots
Bacem Tempe
1 block of tempeh, cut as desired and scored for marinating
Sweet soy sauce, to taste
2 tablespoons of palm sugar
Water (enough for simmering)
Spices for Bacem
2 cloves of garlic, ground
3 shallots, ground
1 teaspoon of coriander
Salt and sugar, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Corn Fritters (Bakwan):

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the corn kernels, tepung bakwan, chopped celery, and ground shallots and chili. Gradually add water until the mixture reaches a slightly thick consistency.
    • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Using a spoon, drop the batter into the hot oil, frying one tablespoon at a time. Cook until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Remove and drain on paper towels. Set aside for serving.
  2. Prepare the Bacem Tempe:

    • Heat a small amount of oil in a pan and sautΓ© the ground garlic and shallots until fragrant and cooked through.
    • Add enough water to the pan to cover the tempeh and bring to a boil. Season with palm sugar and sweet soy sauce, adjusting to taste.
    • Carefully add the scored tempeh pieces to the pan. Allow them to simmer until the sauce reduces and thickens, ensuring the tempeh absorbs the flavors. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
    • Once the sauce has thickened and coats the tempeh well, remove from heat.
  3. Serve:

    • Plate the corn fritters alongside the bacem tempeh. Enjoy this delicious combination of textures and flavors!

This simple yet flavorful dish is perfect for any occasion, bringing a touch of Indonesian culinary delight to your table. Whether as a main course or a delightful snack, Dadar Jagung with Bacem Tempe is sure to become a favorite! Enjoy! πŸ™
