Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 potatoes
- 1 head of cabbage
- 1 can white beans, drained
- 3 leeks
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1 carrot
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 turnip
- 1 smoked sausage
- 1 onion
- 2 celery stalks
- 1 garlic clove
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Chop up all vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
- Place butter in a soup pot over medium heat.
- Once melted, add the cabbage, leeks, carrot, turnip, onion, celery, and garlic. Stir occasionally until the vegetables are tender, but not browned.
- Peel potatoes and cut into large pieces. Add potatoes and drained beans to the pot.
- Pour in the water and chicken broth.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Simmer the soup for 1 hour, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Meanwhile, cut the smoked sausage into small pieces and fry until browned.
