Description: This is a great week-day supper. Fast and delicious! We always have this with a big bowl of rice, and everyone just loves it – even the kids! You can add any other veggies that your family likes!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup soya sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 pound beef steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions:

Step Description Time
1 Marinate steak in a mixture of 1/2 cup water, soya sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch. (At least 10 minutes). 10 minutes
2 Drain well, reserving marinade.
3 Heat oil in a wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
4 Add steak slices and brown them.
5 Add broccoli florets and sliced onion to the skillet.
6 Cook at medium-high heat, stirring continuously for 1 minute. 1 minute
7 Add the remaining 1/4 cup of water, cover, and steam for 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is tender-crisp. 3-4 minutes
8 Add the reserved marinade to the skillet and cook until the sauce is hot and thickened.
