Chicken Yakitori
Ingredients:
- 250 grams chicken fillet, cut into cubes
- 3 stalks green onions, cut into 2 cm pieces
- Skewers, as needed
For the Yakitori Sauce:
- 50 ml mirin
- 50 ml sake
- 50 ml soy sauce
- 50 ml water
- 3 tablespoons palm sugar
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Yakitori Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, combine mirin, sake, soy sauce, water, and palm sugar. Stir well.
- Place the saucepan over low heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally. Allow it to simmer until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
Assemble the Skewers:
- Thread the chicken fillet cubes and green onion pieces alternately onto the skewers.
-
Grill the Skewers:
- Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Place the skewers on the grill and cook, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred, about 8-10 minutes.
-
Apply the Sauce:
- Brush the cooked skewers with the prepared yakitori sauce.
- Continue to grill for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to caramelize and infuse the chicken with flavor.
-
Serve:
- Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Serve the yakitori with any remaining sauce on the side for dipping.
