Chicken Yakitori

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams chicken fillet, cut into cubes
  • 3 stalks green onions, cut into 2 cm pieces
  • Skewers, as needed

For the Yakitori Sauce:

  • 50 ml mirin
  • 50 ml sake
  • 50 ml soy sauce
  • 50 ml water
  • 3 tablespoons palm sugar

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Yakitori Sauce:

    • In a small saucepan, combine mirin, sake, soy sauce, water, and palm sugar. Stir well.
    • Place the saucepan over low heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally. Allow it to simmer until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Assemble the Skewers:

    • Thread the chicken fillet cubes and green onion pieces alternately onto the skewers.
  3. Grill the Skewers:

    • Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat.
    • Place the skewers on the grill and cook, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Apply the Sauce:

    • Brush the cooked skewers with the prepared yakitori sauce.
    • Continue to grill for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to caramelize and infuse the chicken with flavor.
  5. Serve:

    • Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
    • Serve the yakitori with any remaining sauce on the side for dipping.
