Instructions:
-
Prepare the Beef:
Begin by slicing the beef into wide strips. In a bowl, combine the beef with the marinade ingredients: grated pineapple (if using), salt, sweet soy sauce, minced garlic, ground nutmeg, and ground pepper. Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated. Allow it to marinate for 10-15 minutes so the flavors can infuse into the meat. -
Cook the Beef:
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent and fragrant. Next, add the marinated beef to the skillet. Stir occasionally, allowing the beef to sear and brown slightly. -
Add Flavorings:
Pour in the Worcestershire sauce, and season with sugar and bouillon powder to taste. Add 500 ml of water to the skillet, ensuring that the beef is mostly covered. Stir well to combine all the ingredients. -
Simmer and Thicken:
Reduce the heat to low and let the beef simmer gently. Cook until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened to your liking, which typically takes about 45 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking. -
Serve:
Once the beef is cooked and the sauce is nicely reduced, remove from heat. Serve the beef alongside boiled carrots, boiled potatoes, and boiled eggs. Garnish with tomato slices and a dollop of mayonnaise. Drizzle a bit of the rich sauce over the beef for added flavor.
Enjoy your delicious Beef Bistik! 😊
