- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 50 grams bread crumbs (or substitute with white bread)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Sauce:
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
- 75 ml water
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of black pepper
- Cornstarch slurry (for thickening)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Patties:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, bread crumbs (or white bread), egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into round, flat patties, pressing them firmly to hold their shape.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of margarine in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side. Transfer the cooked patties to a serving plate and set aside.
-
Make the Sauce:
- In the same skillet, add a little more margarine if needed and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent.
- Stir in the sweet soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato ketchup. Mix well.
- Add the water, and season with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- To thicken the sauce, mix a small amount of cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then gradually add it to the simmering sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.
-
Serve:
- Pour the prepared sauce over the patties on the serving plate. Serve immediately and enjoy!
