Homemade Bistik Sapi Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Patties:

  • 200 grams ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 50 grams bread crumbs (or substitute with white bread)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Sauce:

  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 75 ml water
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • Cornstarch slurry (for thickening)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Patties:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, bread crumbs (or white bread), egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
    • Shape the mixture into round, flat patties, pressing them firmly to hold their shape.
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of margarine in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side. Transfer the cooked patties to a serving plate and set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce:

    • In the same skillet, add a little more margarine if needed and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent.
    • Stir in the sweet soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato ketchup. Mix well.
    • Add the water, and season with a pinch of salt and black pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer.
    • To thicken the sauce, mix a small amount of cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then gradually add it to the simmering sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.
  3. Serve:

    • Pour the prepared sauce over the patties on the serving plate. Serve immediately and enjoy!
