Korean Beef Bulgogi

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams beef (thinly sliced; for best results, slice while still slightly frozen)
  • Margarine or butter, as needed

Marinade:

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons oyster sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 stalk green onion, chopped

For Garnish:

  • Toasted sesame seeds, to taste
  • Chopped green onion, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef: Thinly slice the beef, ideally while it is slightly frozen to make the process easier.

  2. Marinate: In a bowl, combine the garlic (minced), sweet soy sauce, paprika powder, coarse black pepper, ground ginger, oyster sauce, salt, and sugar to taste. Mix well. Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring that each piece is well coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for approximately 1 hour or overnight to allow the flavors to infuse.

  3. Cook the Beef: Remove the marinated beef from the refrigerator. In a skillet, heat a small amount of margarine or butter over low heat. Add the marinated beef and cook, stirring frequently, until the beef releases its juices and the marinade begins to caramelize. Continue cooking until the beef is thoroughly cooked and tender.

  4. Serve: Transfer the cooked beef to a serving dish. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onion. Serve hot over steamed rice.

Enjoy this flavorful and tender Korean Beef Bulgogi, perfect for a delightful meal with family and friends! 😊
