Korean-Style Beef Stir-Fry

Ingredients:

  • 200g ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 4 cloves red shallots
  • 1 onion
  • 1 stalk green onion
  • 250 ml water
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Vegetables: Peel, wash, and finely chop the red shallots, onion, and green onion.

  2. Marinate the Beef: Place the ground beef in a bowl and marinate with 2 tablespoons of sesame oil. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  3. Cook the Aromatics: Heat a pan over medium heat and sauté the chopped red shallots, onion, and green onion until they become fragrant and slightly golden.

  4. Add the Beef: Add the marinated ground beef to the pan. Cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is fully cooked and has changed color.

  5. Season the Dish: Stir in the oyster sauce, sweet soy sauce, soy sauce, ground black pepper, salt, and sugar to taste. Mix well to combine the flavors.

  6. Simmer: Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Allow it to simmer gently.

  7. Thicken the Sauce: Prepare a slurry by mixing the all-purpose flour with a small amount of water. Stir the slurry into the pan and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

  8. Serve: Once the sauce has thickened, remove the pan from the heat. Serve the Korean-style beef stir-fry hot with steamed rice or as a side dish.
