Mini Cireng with Egg Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup tapioca flour
- 15 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
- Chopped green onions (to taste)
- Salt, to taste
- Flavor enhancer (such as MSG or your preferred seasoning), to taste
- 1 egg (for mixing with the dough)
- Ice water, as needed
- Plastic wrap or small plastic bags
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the tapioca flour, all-purpose flour, minced garlic, chopped green onions, salt, and flavor enhancer.
- Gradually add ice water, stirring continuously until the mixture becomes thick and slightly sticky.
-
Shape the Dough:
- Cut the plastic wrap or small plastic bags into strips, approximately the length you want your cireng to be.
- Divide the dough in half. Mix one half with the egg, ensuring it is well combined.
-
Form Mini Cireng:
- Place a portion of the dough on the prepared plastic strips.
- Roll the dough into a cylindrical shape using the plastic as a guide.
- Repeat with the remaining dough.
-
Steam the Cireng:
- Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil.
- Place the rolled dough into the steamer, ensuring they are not touching each other.
- Steam for about 20-30 minutes, or until the cireng floats and is cooked through. Check the doneness by inserting a toothpick; if it comes out clean, the cireng is ready.
-
Finishing Touches:
- Once steamed, remove the cireng from the steamer and allow them to cool. They can be enjoyed as-is or fried for a crispy texture.
-
Optional – Frying:
- For a crispy version, heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Fry the cooled cireng until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels before serving.
Enjoy your homemade Mini Cireng with Egg, a delightful snack that can be savored either steamed or fried!
