Mongolian Beef Recipe
Ingredients
For the Beef Marinade:
- 200 grams beef, sliced
- 1/4 cup water
- A pinch of salt
- 1/2 egg white
- A pinch of black pepper
- A pinch of baking soda
- A splash of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water
For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water
- A splash of mushroom soy sauce (for color)
Additional Ingredients:
- Oil, for frying
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 5 cm scallions, chopped
- Bell pepper, sliced

Prepare the Beef:
- In a bowl, massage the sliced beef with water and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the remaining marinade ingredients: egg white, black pepper, baking soda, soy sauce, and the cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water). Combine this marinade with the beef slices and let it marinate for about 30 minutes.

Cook the Beef:
- Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
- Fry the marinated beef slices until they are browned and cooked through on both sides. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Prepare the Sauce:
- In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add the chicken broth (or water), soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and the cornstarch slurry (1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water). Stir well and bring to a simmer.
- Adjust the color with a splash of mushroom soy sauce, if desired.

Combine and Serve:
- Return the cooked beef to the pan, tossing to coat in the sauce.
- Add the chopped scallions and sliced bell pepper, and stir to combine.
- Cook for an additional minute or until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp.

- Transfer the Mongolian Beef to a serving dish. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
