- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tbsp grated gingerroot
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp sambal oelek (chili paste)
- 1 lb chicken breast or pork loin, thinly sliced
- 8 (8-inch) flour tortillas
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Sauce:
- In a medium bowl, mix together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, grated gingerroot, minced garlic, and sambal oelek until well combined.
-
Marinate the Meat:
- Reserve 1 cup of the hoisin sauce mixture for later use.
- Add the thinly sliced chicken or pork to the remaining sauce mixture in the bowl. Stir well to coat.
- Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, up to 8 hours, stirring occasionally.
-
Cook the Meat:
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat and coat with olive oil.
- Add half of the marinated chicken or pork to the skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meat is cooked through and nicely seared.
- Remove the cooked meat from the skillet and set aside.
- Repeat with the remaining batch of chicken or pork, adjusting olive oil as needed, and ensuring to wash the pan between batches if necessary.
-
Assemble the Wraps:
- Warm the flour tortillas according to the package directions.
- Spread about 2 tablespoons of the reserved hoisin sauce mixture down the center of each tortilla.
- Arrange a portion (1/8th) of the cooked chicken or pork slices and 2 tablespoons of sliced green onions down the center of each tortilla.
- Roll up the tortillas tightly to form wraps.
-
Serve:
- Cut each wrap in half diagonally, if desired, and serve immediately.
