Ingredients:

  • 50 grams chicken fillet, cleaned and cut into thin cubes
  • 1 package of shrimp tofu, sliced into 1 cm thick pieces and fried until golden
  • 2 sheets of Chinese cabbage, sliced
  • 1 carrot, sliced diagonally
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed and finely chopped
  • 1 stalk green onion, sliced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch, diluted with a little water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:

    • Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the crushed garlic and sauté until fragrant.
    • Add the chicken fillet cubes to the pan. Stir-fry until the chicken is lightly browned and cooked through.
    • Toss in the sliced carrots and continue to cook until they start to soften.
  2. Flavor the Dish:

    • Pour in enough water to cover the ingredients. Allow it to simmer until the carrots are tender and the chicken is fully cooked.
    • Season with salt, sugar, ground black pepper, oyster sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
  3. Add Tofu and Vegetables:

    • Gently fold in the fried tofu pieces and sliced Chinese cabbage. Cook until the cabbage is wilted and the tofu is heated through.
  4. Thicken the Sauce:

    • Add the sliced green onion and the diluted cornstarch mixture to the pan. Stir well to combine and cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients.
  5. Serve:

    • Transfer the Sapo Tahu Ayam to a serving dish. Enjoy hot, either on its own or with steamed rice.

This Sapo Tahu Ayam recipe offers a harmonious blend of textures and flavors, making it a fantastic choice for a wholesome meal. The combination of tender chicken, crispy tofu, and fresh vegetables in a savory sauce is sure to delight your taste buds.
