Suwir Ikan Tongkol
Ingredients:
- 4 pieces of medium-sized tuna (ikan tongkol)
- 5 shallots, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 cm galangal, sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon shrimp paste (terasi)
- 1/2 teaspoon broth powder
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
- Salt, to taste
- 50 ml water
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Tuna: Start by cleaning the tuna thoroughly. Once cleaned, boil the fish in water for about 10 minutes until cooked. After boiling, remove the flesh from the bones and shred it coarsely.
-
Sauté Aromatics: In a skillet, heat a bit of oil and sauté the sliced shallots and garlic until they turn fragrant and golden brown. Add the bay leaves and galangal slices, continuing to sauté for a few more minutes to release their aromatic oils.
-
Combine Ingredients: Pour in the water and add the shredded tuna along with the shrimp paste, broth powder, sugar, and salt. Stir everything together gently, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
-
Cook Until Flavors Meld: Let the mixture simmer until the spices are well absorbed and the sauce thickens slightly. This should take about 5 to 10 minutes.
-
Taste and Serve: Taste the dish and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Once everything is cooked to perfection, remove from heat and serve hot with steaming white rice.
Enjoy this delightful Suwir Ikan Tongkol as a comforting and flavorful dish, perfect for any meal!
