Tauco Tahu Udang (Tofu and Shrimp with Tauco)
Ingredients
Quantity | Ingredient |
---|---|
5 large silk tofu | (any tofu type can be used) |
1 oz shrimp | peeled |
3 packets tauco | (I recommend Tabera brand for its balanced flavor) |
3 cloves garlic | minced |
6 shallots | sliced |
5 curly red chilies | (adjust to taste) |
20 small red chilies | (adjust to taste) |
5 large green chilies | sliced |
1 thumb-sized galangal | smashed |
3 bay leaves | |
1 medium red tomato | diced |
Water | as needed |
Chicken seasoning | to taste |
Instructions
- Prepare the Tofu: Cut the tofu into your desired shapes and fry until golden brown. Remove and drain excess oil.
- Sauté Aromatics: In a hot pan, add the minced garlic and sliced shallots, sautéing until fragrant.
- Add Vegetables and Shrimp: Toss in the red chilies, green chilies, diced tomato, galangal, bay leaves, shrimp, and tauco. Cook until the shrimp turns pink.
- Combine Ingredients: Add enough water and chicken seasoning to create a sauce. Stir well, then gently fold in the fried tofu, allowing the flavors to meld. Let it simmer for a few minutes, adjusting the taste as needed.
- Serve: Once the tofu has absorbed the flavors, serve warm and enjoy!
Note: I use tauco for seasoning instead of salt, as it is already salty enough. Enjoy this deliciously fragrant dish! ❤️
