Beef Steak with Mac and Cheese: A Deliciously Classic Dish
Ingredients:
- 1 pound Sirloin or Tenderloin Steak
- 2 cups Elbow Pasta or Curly Pasta
- 1 large Carrot
- 1 sprig Fresh Rosemary
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1/2 cup Cheese Powder
- 1 cup Fresh Cream or Fresh Milk
- 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon Fresh Thyme
- Juice of 1 Lemon
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Mac and Cheese:
- Cook the elbow or curly pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until just undercooked, about 2 minutes shy of the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the pasta and pour in the fresh cream or milk, stirring to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Gradually add the cheese powder while stirring continuously until the cheese sauce is smooth and thickened.
- Dissolve the cornstarch in a small amount of hot water and stir it into the pasta mixture to thicken it further if needed. Continue cooking until the pasta is fully cooked and the cheese sauce is creamy. Set aside.
-
Cook the Steak:
- Season the sirloin or tenderloin steak generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over high heat. Add the fresh rosemary and minced garlic, cooking briefly to infuse the oil with aroma.
- Place the steak in the hot pan and sear for about 5-6 minutes, flipping every 30 seconds, or until it reaches your preferred level of doneness (medium-well is recommended). Adjust the cooking time according to your taste preference.
- Once cooked, remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for a minute. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a moist and flavorful steak.
-
Prepare the Carrot Puree:
- Steam the carrot until tender, about 10 minutes.
- Blend the steamed carrot with fresh thyme, salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.
-
Serve:
- Slice the rested steak and arrange it on a plate alongside a generous serving of creamy mac and cheese.
- Spoon the carrot puree onto the plate as a flavorful accompaniment.
- Garnish with fresh parsley for a burst of color and added freshness.
Enjoy your savory Beef Steak with Mac and Cheeseโa hearty meal that combines tender steak, creamy pasta, and a vibrant carrot puree!
