Abon Ikan Tongkol Recipe
Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Smoked tuna fish | 1 small basket (approx. 7 pieces) |
Kaffir lime leaves | 2 leaves |
Garlic (sliced) | 3 cloves |
Onion (sliced) | 1 medium |
Bird’s eye chili (sliced) | 3 pieces |
Sugar | To taste |
Salt | To taste |
Ground pepper | To taste |
Mushroom broth seasoning | To taste |
Sweet soy sauce | To taste |
Lime | 1 fruit |
Cooking oil | 3 tablespoons |
Instructions:
- Begin by thoroughly washing the smoked tuna fish, then steam it for about 15 minutes until cooked.
- Once cooked, mash the fish (a mortar and pestle works well for this).
- In a pan, heat the cooking oil and add the kaffir lime leaves. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add the sliced garlic, onion, and chili to the pan, stirring until aromatic.
- Introduce the mashed tuna fish into the mixture, adding just enough water to prevent it from drying out too quickly.
- Season the mixture with ground pepper, sugar, salt, sweet soy sauce, and mushroom broth seasoning to your preference.
- Once the flavors begin to meld, squeeze in a little lime juice to enhance the taste.
- Cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until the spices are well absorbed and the mixture is slightly dry (optional: for a firmer texture).
- Serve hot or allow it to cool before storing in an airtight container.
