Ingredients:

1 Fresh garlic
3 Fresh ginger
1 lb Ground beef
1 1/2 tsp Ground coriander
2 1/2 tsp Ground cumin
2 1/2 tsp Fresh ground black pepper
1/4 tsp Turmeric
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/8 tsp Salt
1 1/2 lb Potato
1 cup Plain yogurt
1 cup Sour cream
3/4 tsp Lemon juice
3/4 cup Cilantro
1/2 tsp Salt (additional)
1/2 cup Milk
1/2 cup Frozen peas

Instructions:

  1. In a large deep frying pan, heat oil over moderate heat.

  2. Add finely chopped onion and cook for about 3 minutes until translucent and fragrant.

  3. Stir in minced garlic and ginger and cook for an additional minute until aromatic.

  4. Add ground beef to the pan and cook until it’s no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.

  5. If desired, drain excess fat from the pan.

  6. Sprinkle ground coriander, cumin, black pepper, turmeric, cinnamon, and 1 tsp of salt over the beef mixture. Cook for 1 minute, stirring continuously to evenly coat the beef with the spices.

  7. Add diced potatoes, plain yogurt, sour cream, and milk to the pan. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

  8. Cover the pan and bring the mixture to barely a boil.

  9. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the potatoes to become tender.

  10. Uncover the pan and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to slightly thicken the sauce.

  11. Stir in frozen peas and an additional 1/2 tsp of salt. Simmer for about 2 minutes until the peas are heated through.

  12. Finally, add freshly squeezed lemon juice and chopped cilantro to the dish. Stir well to incorporate all the ingredients.

  13. Remove the pan from heat and let the Beef Keema sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to develop fully.
