Romaine Lettuce Salad with Spiced Beef

Ingredients:

For the Spice Paste:

  • 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 shallot

For the Seasoning:

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon granulated sugar
  • Brown sugar, to taste
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil or butter

For the Salad:

  • 200 grams beef
  • 250 grams romaine lettuce
  • 5 cherry tomatoes or young tomatoes

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Beef:
Begin by boiling the beef in enough water to cover it. Cook for approximately 30 to 45 minutes, or until the beef is tender. Once done, remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

  2. Prepare the Vegetables:
While the beef is cooking, wash the romaine lettuce and tomatoes thoroughly. Slice the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and cut the tomatoes into halves or quarters, depending on their size.

  3. Slice the Beef:
After the beef has cooled down, cut it into thin, long strips.

  4. Cook the Spice Paste:
Heat the oil or butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the spice paste ingredients: coriander seeds, garlic, and shallot. Cook until fragrant and the shallots are translucent.

  5. Add the Beef:
Add the sliced beef to the pan. If the mixture seems dry, you can add a bit of water to keep it moist. Stir well to combine with the spice paste.

  6. Season the Beef:
Add the seasoning ingredients: salt, granulated sugar, brown sugar to taste, and a pinch of black pepper. Adjust the seasoning according to your preference, adding more salt or sugar if needed.

  7. Combine and Serve:
Once the beef is cooked and well-seasoned, combine it with the prepared romaine lettuce. Gently toss to mix.

  8. Finish and Enjoy:
Serve the salad immediately, garnished with the cherry tomatoes, for a fresh and flavorful dish.

This Romaine Lettuce Salad with Spiced Beef is a delightful combination of tender beef seasoned with aromatic spices, crisp romaine lettuce, and juicy tomatoes. Perfect for a satisfying lunch or a light dinner!
