Minimalist Botok Ayam Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 whole chicken, cut into cubes
  • 1 young coconut
  • Banana leaves, for wrapping

Spice Paste:

  • 4 shallots
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 red chili
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1/2 cm turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon palm sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 packet chicken bouillon powder

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Clean the chicken thoroughly and cut it into bite-sized cubes.

  2. Prepare the Coconut: Grate the young coconut and set aside.

  3. Make the Spice Paste: Blend the shallots, garlic, red chili, coriander seeds, turmeric, palm sugar, and salt into a smooth paste.

  4. Combine Ingredients: Mix the spice paste with the grated coconut and diced tomato. Add the chicken bouillon powder to the mixture.

  5. Combine Chicken and Spice Mixture: Add the chicken cubes to the coconut and spice mixture, ensuring the chicken is well-coated.

  6. Wrap and Steam: Wrap the mixture in banana leaves, dividing it into 10 portions. Secure the wraps with toothpicks or ties.

  7. Steam: Place the wrapped packets in a steamer and steam for 30 minutes.

  8. Serve: Unwrap the banana leaves and enjoy your delicious Minimalist Botok Ayam!
