Simple Tofu Roll Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 shallots
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 egg
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • Tofu (quantity as needed)
  • Cooking oil (quantity as needed)
  • 100 grams all-purpose flour
  • Seasoning: Masako (or similar seasoning), sugar, and salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Sauté Aromatics: Begin by finely chopping the shallots and garlic. Heat some cooking oil in a pan over medium heat, and sauté the shallots and garlic until they are fragrant and golden brown. Set aside.

  2. Prepare the Tofu Mixture: In a blender, combine the tofu with the sautéed shallots and garlic. Add the egg and blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

  3. Mix Ingredients: Transfer the blended tofu mixture into a large bowl. Gradually add the all-purpose flour while stirring until well incorporated. Season with Masako, sugar, and salt to taste. Mix in the diced carrots, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

  4. Steam the Mixture: Pour the tofu mixture into a steaming dish or a heatproof container. Steam over boiling water for approximately 30-40 minutes, or until the mixture is fully cooked and firm to the touch.

  5. Serve: Once cooked, you can either enjoy the tofu roll immediately as is or let it cool slightly before slicing. For a crispier texture, you may choose to pan-fry the slices in a bit of oil until golden brown on both sides.
