Beef in Oyster Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/4 kg beef (sliced thinly for quicker tenderness)
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 sachet oyster sauce (I used Saori brand)
- 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- Palm sugar, to taste (shaved)
- 1 large red chili, sliced
- 1 large green chili, sliced
- Water, as needed
For the Spice Paste:
- 3 cloves garlic
- 4 shallots
- 1 candlenut
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Spice Paste: Blend together garlic, shallots, and candlenut until smooth. Mix this paste with butter, ground black pepper, palm sugar, salt, oyster sauce, and sweet soy sauce. Set aside.
-
Marinate the Beef: Slice the beef thinly and rinse it well. Marinate the beef with the prepared spice mixture. Cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
-
Cook the Beef: Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until it changes color. Add the sliced onion and both red and green chilies. Pour in enough water to create a sauce, and cook until the liquid reduces and the beef is tender.
-
Serve: Once the beef is cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly, it is ready to serve.
