Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Cabbage 1-2
Ground Beef 1 lb
Ground Pork 1/2 lb
Salt 1 tsp
Pepper 1/4 tsp
Onion 1
Cabbage (shredded) 1
Green Bell Pepper 1
Green Onion 1/2 cup
Garlic 4 cloves
Parsley 2 tbsp
Eggs 2
Raw Rice 1 cup
Tomato Sauce 2 small cans
Brown Sugar 1/4 cup
Lemon Juice 1/4 cup

Instructions:

  1. Blanch Cabbage:

    • Blanch the cabbage(s) in boiling water for approximately 10 minutes until slightly tender.
    • Once cooled, carefully separate the leaves.
  2. Prepare Filling:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, salt, pepper, raw rice, shredded cabbage, shredded potato, eggs, diced onions, diced green bell pepper, minced garlic, and chopped parsley.
    • Add a small can of tomato sauce to the mixture and mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Assemble Cabbage Rolls:

    • Place equal portions of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf.
    • Fold the sides of the cabbage leaf over the filling and roll it up tightly. Secure each roll with toothpicks to prevent them from unraveling during cooking.
  4. Cook Cabbage Rolls:

    • Heat one tablespoon of oil in each of two large skillets over medium heat.
    • Arrange the cabbage rolls side by side in the skillets.
    • In a separate bowl, combine the remaining tomato sauce, brown sugar, and lemon juice to make the sauce.
    • Pour the sauce over the cabbage rolls in both skillets.
  5. Simmer and Serve:

    • Cover the skillets with lids and simmer the cabbage rolls for 30 minutes, basting occasionally with the sauce.
    • After 30 minutes, remove the lids and continue to simmer for an additional 30 minutes, basting occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the cabbage rolls.
    • Serve hot, and for an extra kick, add a dash of Louisiana hot sauce on top for those who enjoy it.

These Oh So Good Cabbage Rolls are a comforting and satisfying meal that’s perfect for a cozy dinner at home. Enjoy the blend of savory meat, tender cabbage, and flavorful sauce in every bite!
