Orek Tempe Tahu

Ingredients:

  • 1 package tempe, sliced lengthwise and fried
  • 6 pieces tofu, sliced lengthwise and fried
  • 5 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 small piece ginger, smashed
  • 1 large red chili, diagonally sliced
  • 1 stalk green onion, diagonally sliced
  • 3 stalks celery, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • (Note: No added salt is necessary as the oyster sauce provides sufficient saltiness)

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic, smashed ginger, and red chili. Sauté until fragrant and the garlic turns golden brown.

  2. Stir in the oyster sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sweet soy sauce, and ground black pepper. Mix well to combine.

  3. Add the fried tempe and tofu to the pan. Stir gently to coat the ingredients with the sauce.

  4. Incorporate the sliced green onion and celery into the mixture. Continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender and the flavors meld together.

  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, though additional salt is usually unnecessary.

  6. Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy your flavorful Orek Tempe Tahu!

This simple yet savory dish combines the nutty richness of tempe with the delicate texture of tofu, enhanced by aromatic spices and a savory sauce, making it a perfect addition to any meal.
