Savory Tempe Steak with Garlic Oyster Sauce

Tempe Steak Recipe

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Papan tempe (steamed and mashed) 1/2 (about 250g)
White pepper 1/2 pack (to taste)
Egg 1 (beaten)
Garlic (mashed) 1 clove
Seasoning To taste
All-purpose flour 1 tablespoon
Vegetables
Green beans To taste
Carrots To taste
Potatoes (fried) As needed
Sauce Ingredients
Cornstarch (mixed with water) 1 teaspoon
Oyster sauce To taste
Water As needed
Onion (thinly sliced) To taste

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed tempe, garlic, and white pepper. Gradually add the beaten egg and all-purpose flour, mixing until well incorporated.
  2. Heat a non-stick skillet and lightly grease it with oil. Shape the tempe mixture into steak-like patties.
  3. Cook the patties in the skillet over medium heat until golden brown, being careful not to overcook them.
  4. For the sauce, sauté the sliced onion until translucent, then add the oyster sauce and cornstarch mixture. Stir well and simmer until thickened.
  5. Serve the tempe steaks topped with the sauce, alongside steamed green beans and carrots, and fried potatoes on the side.
