Indulge in the delightful flavors of Orek Tahu Tempe, a cherished dish that harmonizes the nutty richness of tempe and the soft texture of tofu, complemented by aromatic spices and a touch of sweetness. This recipe is not only simple but also offers a burst of flavor that will make it a favorite at your dining table.

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Tempe (fermented soybean cake) 400 grams
Fresh shrimp (optional) 100 grams
Firm tofu 400 grams
Cooking oil As needed
Water 50 ml
Spices
Onion (optional) 1/2 medium
Shallots 3
Garlic 3 cloves
Brown sugar (shredded) 1 tablespoon
Salt 1 teaspoon
Sweet soy sauce 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by slicing the tempe and tofu into small pieces. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat, and fry the tempe and tofu until they are golden brown and crispy. Set aside on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.

  2. Sauté the Aromatics: In the same pan, add more oil if needed. Sauté the shallots, garlic, and optional onion until they are softened, fragrant, and slightly browned, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. Cook the Shrimp: If using, add the fresh shrimp to the pan and stir. Pour in 50 ml of water, followed by the shredded brown sugar and salt. Cook, stirring gently, until the shrimp are fully cooked and turn pink.

  4. Combine and Flavor: Add the fried tempe and tofu to the pan, tossing gently to mix. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of sweet soy sauce, stirring until everything is well coated and heated through.

  5. Serve: Once everything is nicely combined, remove from heat. Serve your Orek Tahu Tempe warm, and enjoy the delightful blend of flavors!

This recipe is a perfect addition to any meal, providing a hearty and nutritious option that’s sure to impress!
