Simple Beef Teriyaki

This recipe for Simple Beef Teriyaki is a delightful and straightforward dish that’s perfect for any meal. It combines tender slices of beef with a savory and slightly sweet teriyaki sauce, flavored with garlic, ginger, and a hint of chili for a little kick. Ready in just about 30 minutes, it’s a great option for a quick weeknight dinner or a casual get-together. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams beef (sliced thinly, to your preference)
  • 7 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 8 small chili peppers (or to taste)
  • 1 ½ tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce (preferably bottled Saori for convenience)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (dissolved in 2 tablespoons water)
  • Water (as needed)
  • Salt, pepper, and sugar (to taste)
  • Green onions (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef: Wash the beef thoroughly and slice it thinly. Place it in a bowl and add the soy sauce and about 15 ml of teriyaki sauce (or half a packet of teriyaki sauce). Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated. Let it marinate for 20 minutes.

  2. Chop the Vegetables: Slice the garlic, onion, and chili peppers.

  3. Cook the Aromatics: Heat a non-stick skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, sliced onion, ground ginger, and chili peppers. Sauté until fragrant and the onion is translucent.

  4. Add the Beef: Add the marinated beef to the pan. Cook until the beef is halfway cooked.

  5. Season and Simmer: Add more teriyaki sauce to taste. Pour in a little water if needed to reach your desired consistency. Season with salt, pepper, and a bit of sugar according to your taste preferences.

  6. Thicken the Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch mixture (2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water). Cook and stir until the sauce thickens to your liking.

  7. Finish Cooking: Continue to cook until the beef is fully cooked through and tender.

  8. Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions before serving. Enjoy your delicious homemade beef teriyaki!

This Simple Beef Teriyaki recipe is not only easy to make but also incredibly flavorful, making it a great addition to your weeknight meal rotation. Enjoy! 😋
