Tahu Fantasi Recipe: A Flavorful Indonesian Delight
Ingredients:
- 30 medium white tofu pieces
- 250 grams carrots, diced
- 200 grams ground beef
- 60 boiled quail eggs
- 8 large eggs
- 6 stalks of scallions, finely chopped
- 8 cloves garlic
- 2 teaspoons whole black peppercorns
- Salt to taste
- Optional: seasoning powder to taste
- Cooking oil
- Green bird’s eye chili peppers
- Paper cups for serving
Instructions:

Prepare the Tofu:
- Wash the tofu thoroughly and drain well.

Prepare the Spice Mixture:
- In a blender or food processor, blend the garlic, black peppercorns, and salt until finely ground. Set aside.

Prepare Vegetables and Beef:
- Dice the carrots into small pieces and finely chop the scallions. Set aside.
- Lightly sauté the ground beef with a pinch of salt until it is partially cooked. Set aside.

Mix Tofu and Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, mash the tofu until smooth.
- Mix in the ground garlic mixture, cooked ground beef, and adjust seasoning if desired.
- Crack 5 large eggs, one at a time, into the tofu mixture, stirring well after each addition.
- Incorporate the diced carrots and chopped scallions, mixing until evenly distributed.

Shape and Steam:
- Pour the tofu mixture into paper cups, placing a boiled quail egg in the center of each cup.
- Steam the cups for about 15 minutes until the tofu mixture is set and firm.

Fry the Tofu Cups:
- Once the tofu cups are steamed and cooled, prepare a bowl with beaten egg.
- Dip each tofu cup into the beaten egg, then fry in hot oil over medium heat until golden brown. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan; fry in batches if necessary.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

- Place the fried tofu cups in paper cups for presentation.
- Garnish with sliced green bird’s eye chili peppers for an added kick and as a decorative touch.
