Sarden Tongkol Recipe

Ingredients

Small Tomatoes 3 pieces
Shallots 3 pieces
Garlic 3 cloves
Sugar 1 tablespoon
Salt ½ tablespoon
Del Monte Tomato Sauce 4 tablespoons
Small Onions 2 pieces
Medium Tuna Fish 2 pieces
Cooking Oil 5 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tuna: Clean the tuna fish by removing the head, bones, and tail, then cut into four pieces.

  2. Fry the Fish: Heat the cooking oil in a skillet and fry the tuna pieces until they are cooked through and golden brown.

  3. Sauté the Aromatics: Slice all the spices according to your preference. In the same skillet, sauté the shallots, garlic, and bird’s eye chilies until they soften and release their aroma.

  4. Add the Sauce: Pour in one cup of water and add the Del Monte tomato sauce, salt, and sugar. Stir well.

  5. Combine and Simmer: Once the mixture reaches a boil, gently add the fried tuna pieces. Allow it to simmer until the sauce thickens and the water reduces slightly.

  6. Taste and Serve: Adjust the seasoning to your liking, then remove from heat. Your Sarden Tongkol is ready to be served warm, perfect for a delightful meal!
