Indulge in the delightful simplicity of Tuna Puff Pastry, a perfect blend of flaky pastry and savory tuna filling. This recipe, which uses readily available ingredients, is ideal for a quick snack or a charming appetizer. Here’s how to create these delectable treats:
Ingredients:
- 2 sheets of instant puff pastry (I used Edo brand), each cut into 4 squares
- 1 can of tuna, drained
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 tablespoon margarine, for sautéing
- 1 egg (white for sealing, yolk for brushing)
- Salt, to taste
- Sugar, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Additional dried parsley, for garnish
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Filling:
- In a skillet, heat the margarine over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until they become fragrant and translucent.
-
Cook the Tuna:
- Add the drained tuna to the skillet, followed by dried parsley, salt, sugar, and black pepper. Stir well to combine, allowing the mixture to cook for a few minutes until heated through. Remove from heat and set aside.
-
Assemble the Pastries:
- Take one of the puff pastry squares and place a generous spoonful of the tuna mixture in the center. Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling to create a sealed pocket. Use a brush to apply the egg white along the edges to help seal the pastry.
-
Finish and Bake:
- Place the filled pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the egg yolk and sprinkle with additional dried parsley for a touch of color and flavor.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.
-
Serve:
- Allow the Tuna Puff Pastries to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature as a delicious snack or appetizer.
These Tuna Puff Pastries offer a wonderful combination of flaky texture and savory tuna filling, making them a delightful treat for any occasion.
