Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tuna Filling: Clean the tuna fish and blend it with the garlic, adding a little water until smooth.

  2. Mix the Ingredients: Grate the zucchini using a cheese grater, then squeeze to remove excess water. In a mixing bowl, combine the grated zucchini, sago flour, all-purpose flour, ground pepper, egg, flavoring seasoning, and the blended tuna. Mix until a smooth dough forms.

  3. Cook the Somay: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Shape the tuna mixture into your desired forms and carefully place them in the boiling water. Cook until they float to the surface, indicating they are done. Remove and set aside.

  4. Prepare the Peanut Sauce: In a pan, fry the peanuts, red chilies, and garlic until fragrant, then blend until smooth. In a clean pan, sauté this mixture with a little oil. Add 2 cups of water, sugar, salt, and flavoring seasoning. Bring to a boil, then add fried shallots and adjust the seasoning to taste before removing from heat.

  5. Steam the Accompaniments: Prepare a steamer and place the boiled somay, tofu, boiled eggs, cabbage, and potatoes inside. Steam for about 20 minutes or until the cabbage and potatoes are tender.

  6. Serve: Arrange the somay, potatoes, tofu, boiled eggs, and cabbage on a serving platter. Drizzle generously with peanut sauce and finish with a squeeze of lime for added zest. Enjoy your homemade Somay Ikan Tuna!

This delightful dish guarantees a culinary experience that rivals the famous somay from Bandung!
