Orange Sesame Rice Recipe

🕒 Total Time: 30 minutes
🥄 Servings: 4
🥢 Yield: Not specified

Description:

This Orange Sesame Rice dish is the perfect accompaniment to any fish or chicken recipe. The subtle hints of orange zest combined with the nuttiness of sesame seeds elevate the flavor of this simple rice dish. It’s quick to make and pairs well with a variety of main courses.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon lite olive oil
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 onion, diced
  • Zest of 2 oranges
  • 2 cups chicken stock (or vegetable stock for a vegetarian option)

Instructions:

Step Description
1 In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
2 Add the sesame seeds to the hot oil, stirring constantly, and cook until the seeds are lightly browned, about 2 minutes.
3 Add the diced onion and basmati rice to the pan, and sauté for about 3 minutes, until the onion is translucent and the rice is lightly toasted.
4 Pour in the chicken stock (or vegetable stock) and bring the mixture to a boil.
5 Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let the rice simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Be careful not to overcook the rice. If necessary, drain any excess liquid.
6 Once the rice is cooked, stir in the orange zest until well combined.
7 Serve the Orange Sesame Rice hot as a flavorful side dish with your favorite fish or chicken recipe. Enjoy!
