Instructions

  1. Prepare the citronette: Begin by preparing the citronette dressing. Squeeze the juice from the lemon into a tall, narrow container. Add the extra virgin olive oil, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Using an immersion blender, blend everything together until the sauce emulsifies and becomes smooth and creamy.

  2. Prepare the smoked swordfish: Place the smoked swordfish fillet onto a cutting board and carefully chop it using a sharp knife until it is finely diced, creating a tartare-like consistency.

  3. Mix with mint: Finely chop the fresh mint leaves and add them to the swordfish tartare. Pour the prepared citronette over the fish mixture and stir gently to combine, ensuring that the flavors meld together.

  4. Assemble the appetizers: To assemble the appetizers, take a small round cutter or a biscuit cutter, about 3 cm in diameter. Place it in the center of each piece of the Olive Oil & Marino flatbread and fill it with the swordfish tartare. Press down lightly with a spoon to compact the tartare and ensure it holds its shape. Carefully remove the cutter to reveal perfectly formed tartare mounds.

  5. Garnish and serve: Garnish each tartare with a few small mint leaves for a fresh burst of color and flavor. Serve immediately as an elegant appetizer that’s sure to impress your guests.

Tips:

  • The tartare can be made a few hours ahead of time, but for best flavor, assemble the appetizers just before serving.
  • For a twist, you can add finely chopped red onion or capers to the tartare mixture for extra flavor.
  • Ensure the flatbreads are crispy to create the perfect contrast with the tender swordfish tartare.

Enjoy this delicate yet flavorful appetizer, a perfect balance of smokiness, freshness, and crunch, ideal for any gathering or special occasion!
