Instructions:

In the same pan with the reserved drippings, cook the onion, green bell pepper, chipotle powder, jalapeno, cumin, and salt over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened, approximately 10 minutes. -
Add Garlic:

Simmer Soup:
Stir in the chicken broth, black beans, and the reserved bacon. Allow the soup to simmer, partially covered, for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. -
