Instructions:
-
Marinate the Fish: Begin by marinating the fish fillet with turmeric powder and a pinch of salt. Set it aside for 20 minutes to absorb the flavors.
-
Prepare the Puree: In a blender, combine tomatoes, garlic, ginger, green chilies, and coriander leaves to make a smooth puree. Set aside.
-
Tempering: Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds once the oil is hot. Let the mustard seeds crackle, and then add the chopped onions. Fry the onions until they become soft and translucent.
-
Add Curry Leaves: After the onions are soft, add the curry leaves and fry for about 10 seconds to release their aroma.
-
Cook the Puree: Add the prepared tomato puree to the saucepan. Let it cook for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
-
Spices: Stir in coriander powder and cumin powder, and cook for an additional minute.
-
Add Fish: Gently add the marinated fish to the pan, being careful not to break the fillets. Mix gently, cover, and cook on low heat for about 10 minutes.
-
Check for Doneness: Open the lid and check if the fish is cooked through. Add salt to taste.
-
Serve: Serve the South Indian Style Fish Curry hot with steamed rice. For a complete meal, pair it with Rava Fried Prawns as a side dish.
