Fizzy Bath Bombs Recipe

Description

These bath bombs make fantastic gifts – they are just dropped into a hot bath & they fizz & dissolve releasing a beautiful fragrance! Surprisingly easy to make, let your imagination run WILD & experiment with different oils & colours – I also like to add dried rose petals, dried lavender & fine glitter… the possibilities are endless! I use heart-shaped moulds, friand cake tins & round Christmas baubles for moulds. Let me know your ideas! I buy the citric acid in a large bag from an Asian supermarket.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 1/2 cups Bicarbonate of soda
1/2 cup Citric acid
2 tbsp Almond oil
6-8 drops Chosen essential oil
6 drops Food colouring
Optional Dried flowers, glitter

Instructions

  1. Prepare Base Mix

    • First, you need to make the base mix. To do this, sift together the bicarbonate of soda and citric acid in a large dry bowl.
  2. Add Extras

    • Transfer 1/2 cup of the mix at a time to another dry bowl. To this, add any dried flowers, glitter, or other extras you’d like to include. Set this aside.
  3. Prepare Oil Mixture

    • In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 teaspoon at a time of almond oil, 6-8 drops of your chosen essential oil, and 6 drops of food colouring.
  4. Combine Mixtures

    • Pour the oil mixture into the 1/2 cup of base mix and mix QUICKLY before it starts to fizz! Combine everything with your fingertips until the colour is evenly distributed.
  5. Prepare Moulds

    • Wipe a little sweet almond oil inside your moulds. This helps the bath bombs release easily once they’re set.
  6. Fill the Moulds

    • Fill the moulds with the mixture, packing it in firmly. You can repeat this process with 1/2 a cup at a time, using different fragrance or colour blends if you wish.
  7. Let Them Set

    • Leave the bath bombs to set for 24-36 hours. This ensures they harden properly and hold their shape.
  8. Release from Moulds

    • When set, lightly tap the mould and ease out the bath bombs gently. They should come out easily, thanks to the almond oil lining.
  9. Ready to Use

    • Your fizzy bath bombs are now ready to use! Drop one into a hot bath, and enjoy the fizzing and fragrance. Remember, hot water activates the bath bombs much better than cold water!

Notes

  • These bath bombs make great gifts for friends and family.
  • Get creative with your combinations of essential oils, colours, and extras like dried flowers and glitter.
  • Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container until ready to use.

Enjoy your luxurious and fragrant bath experience! 🛁✨
