Instructions:
-
Sieve flour and salt together in a mixing bowl.
-
Gradually add water while kneading the mixture to make a soft dough.
-
Once the dough is well-kneaded, cover it with a damp cloth and set it aside for 30 minutes to rest.
-
In a separate bowl, mix 4 tablespoons of butter and flour to make a paste. Beat well until smooth.
-
After the dough has rested, knead it once again.
-
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and gradually pour it into the dough, kneading until the dough becomes very soft.
-
Divide the dough into 6 equal parts.
-
Roll each part into a thin large circle.
-
Fold each circle in half.
-
Spread a thin layer of the prepared butter-flour paste on the folded circle.
-
Fold it once again into half, lengthways, so it looks like a thin long strip.
-
Shape each strip into a spiral, keeping the fold on the outer side.
-
Press and flatten each spiral to form a ball.
-
Using your palms, flatten each ball into a 1/4″ thick roti.

Heat a griddle and add a little butter or ghee.
-
Shallow fry each roti separately until golden brown on both sides.
