Beef with Black Pepper

This delectable dish, Beef with Black Pepper, is a flavorful blend of tender beef and a tangy, spicy sauce that makes for a satisfying and memorable meal. Whether you’re planning a weeknight dinner or a special occasion, this recipe delivers both in taste and simplicity. Here’s how you can make it:

Ingredients:

For the Beef Marinade:

  • 1/4 kg (approximately 1/2 lb) beef, thinly sliced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 slice fresh pineapple, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp chicken bouillon (Knorr) or mushroom seasoning (Totole)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Margarine and cooking oil for sautéing

For the Sauce:

  • Margarine and cooking oil for sautéing
  • 4 large chili peppers, diced
  • 1/2 cucumber (or bell pepper as an alternative), diced
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 4-5 tbsp tomato sauce (such as Del Monte)
  • 1/2 tsp oyster sauce
  • 5 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp chicken bouillon (Knorr) or mushroom seasoning (Totole)
  • 8 tsp black pepper (adjust to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef:

    • Slice the beef thinly according to your preference.
    • In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with the beaten egg, finely chopped pineapple, chicken bouillon (or mushroom seasoning), and salt. Mix well and let it marinate for about 1 minute. Avoid marinating for too long to keep the beef tender.
  2. Cook the Beef:

    • Heat a mixture of margarine and cooking oil in a pan over medium heat.
    • Add the marinated beef to the pan and sauté until it turns golden brown. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.
  3. Prepare the Sauce:

    • In the same pan, add more margarine and cooking oil if needed.
    • Sauté the diced chili peppers, cucumber (or bell pepper), and chopped onion until they become fragrant and slightly tender. Add a little water (2-3 tablespoons) to help soften the vegetables.
  4. Combine and Simmer:

    • Add the tomato sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, salt, chicken bouillon (or mushroom seasoning), and black pepper to the pan. Stir well to combine.
    • Return the cooked beef to the pan and mix thoroughly with the sauce. Simmer for a few minutes until everything is well-coated and the flavors meld together.
  5. Adjust the Spice:

    • Taste the sauce and adjust the black pepper if needed to achieve your desired level of spiciness.
  6. Serve:

    • Serve the Beef with Black Pepper hot over steamed rice or as part of a larger meal.

Enjoy this flavorful dish that’s perfect for bringing a touch of spice and satisfaction to your dining table!
