- 1/2 coconut
- 2 tbsp channa dal (split chickpeas)
- 3 green chilies
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Urad Dal (split black gram)
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- Salt to taste
Instructions

1 | In a small frying pan, heat 1/2 tsp oil and fry the channa dal until it turns slightly brown. Remove from heat and let it cool. |
2 | Once cooled, grind the fried channa dal along with grated coconut, green chilies, and salt in a mixer or blender. |
3 | Slowly add water while grinding to achieve a smooth consistency, similar to that of ketchup. |
4 | In the same frying pan, heat the remaining 1/2 tsp of oil. Add mustard seeds, Urad Dal, and curry leaves. |
5 | When the mustard seeds start sputtering and the Urad Dal turns golden brown, remove from heat and add this tempering to the ground coconut mixture. Mix well. |
