Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Ikan Nila (Nile Tilapia) 1 kg
Red Curly Chili Peppers 100 grams
Shallots 7 cloves
Garlic 2 cloves
Ginger A small piece
Lime (Jeruk Nipis) 1/2 piece
Salt To taste
Sugar To taste
Cooking Oil As needed

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fish: Cut the Nile tilapia into two pieces, making a slit in the flesh. Wash thoroughly and set aside.

  2. Marinate the Fish: Blend the garlic, ginger, and salt until smooth. Rub this mixture over the fish, ensuring even coverage, and let it marinate for approximately 30 minutes.

  3. Prepare the Chili Mixture: Coarsely grind the red chilies with the shallots to create a chunky paste.

  4. Fry the Fish: Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the marinated fish until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

  5. Cook the Chili Mixture: In the same oil used for frying the fish, sauté the coarsely ground chili and shallot mixture. Reduce the heat, add the juice of half a lime, and adjust the seasoning with salt and sugar. Continue to cook on low heat until there is no excess moisture.

  6. Combine and Serve: Finally, coat the fried fish with the chili mixture. Serve hot and enjoy your Ikan Nila Goreng Balado!
