Ingredients:

  • 1 large firm tofu (tahu putih)
  • 5 red Thai chili peppers (cabe rawit merah), sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic (bawang putih), sliced
  • 3 shallots (bawang merah), sliced
  • Seasoning powder (Masako) to taste
  • Cooking oil, as needed
  • All-purpose seasoning flour

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu:

    • Cut the tofu into small, bite-sized cubes.
  2. Coat the Tofu:

    • Place the tofu cubes in a bowl with all-purpose seasoning flour and a pinch of seasoning powder. Toss well to coat evenly.
  3. Fry the Tofu:

    • Heat enough cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the tofu cubes until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Prepare the Spice Mixture:

    • In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the sliced Thai chili peppers, garlic, and shallots. Sauté until fragrant and the shallots are translucent.
  5. Combine and Serve:

    • Add a pinch more seasoning powder to the sautéed mixture if desired. Gently toss in the fried tofu cubes, ensuring they are well-coated with the spice mixture.
  6. Serve Hot:

    • Serve your Tahu Cabe Garam hot as a delicious and flavorful side dish or snack. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Adjust the amount of chili peppers according to your heat preference.
  • For extra flavor, you can also add a splash of soy sauce or a sprinkle of fresh cilantro before serving.

Indulge in this savory and spicy tofu dish that’s perfect for adding a kick to your meal!
