Egg and Bread Fried Rice Recipe
Cuisine: Fusion | Course: Dinner | Diet: Eggetarian
This delicious variation of egg fried rice combines the comforting flavors of South Indian spices with a twist of bread. Unlike traditional egg fried rice, this recipe adds masala spices, a bit of cinnamon, and cloves, making it more flavorful and rich. The bread slices take the dish to the next level by adding a unique texture and taste. A favorite Sunday meal in my family, this fried rice is a perfect blend of simplicity and indulgence.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Basmati rice, cooked
- 5 Whole Eggs
- 1 Onion, finely chopped
- 4 Whole Wheat Brown Bread slices, torn
- 1 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
- 1/2-inch Cinnamon Stick (Dalchini)
- 2 Cloves (Laung)
- 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
- 3 Whole Black Peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon Sambar Powder
- Salt, as required
- 1 tablespoon Oil
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 3-4
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Ingredients:
- Finely chop the onion.
- Crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk them. Set aside.
- Tear the bread slices into small pieces.
-
Cook the Spices and Onions:
- Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
- Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, and cumin seeds. Once they begin to splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for another minute until the raw smell disappears.
-
Scramble the Eggs:
- Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the beaten eggs to the pan and scramble them until they’re fully cooked.
- Add the black pepper, sambar powder, and salt. Stir everything well to combine.
-
Add the Bread and Rice:
- Add the torn bread slices to the pan and mix well so that the bread gets coated with the egg and spice mixture. If necessary, add a little more oil to help coat the bread evenly.
- Add the cooked rice and stir everything together for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.
-
Final Touches:
- Taste and adjust the salt if needed.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
