Mujair Bumbu Pepes

Ingredients

Medium Mujair Fish 5 pieces
Red Shallots 5 pieces
Garlic 2 cloves
Ginger 1 cm piece
Candlenuts 2 pieces
Turmeric Powder 1 tsp
Bird’s Eye Chili 7 pieces
Turmeric Leaves 1 leaf (torn)
Tomato 1 (diced)
Cooking Oil 4 tbsp
Water 1 glass

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Spice Paste: Blend all ingredients except the turmeric powder and turmeric leaves until smooth.

  2. Sauté the Spice Mixture: Heat the cooking oil in a pan, then add the blended spices. Stir-fry briefly and add a little water to create a sauce. Cook until fragrant.

  3. Cook the Fish: Once the spices are cooked through, add the cleaned fish. Gently stir to coat the fish with the spice mixture. Let it rest for a moment.

  4. Add the Tomato and Simmer: Incorporate the diced tomato and add one glass of water. Cook the fish until it is thoroughly done, flipping it once to ensure even cooking. Cover the pan and check the seasoning to taste.
