Grilled Tuna (Ikan Tongkol Panggang)

Ingredients:

  • 3 shallots
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 5 cm ginger
  • 3 cm turmeric
  • 1 red chili
  • Salt to taste
  • 500 grams tuna (tongkol)
  • Lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tuna: Begin by cleaning the tuna thoroughly. Rub the fish with salt and lime juice, then let it marinate in the refrigerator for a few hours to allow the flavors to infuse.

  2. Make the Spice Paste: In a blender or food processor, combine the shallots, garlic, coriander seeds, black pepper, ginger, turmeric, and red chili. Blend until you achieve a smooth paste.

  3. Season the Fish: Remove the tuna from the refrigerator and coat it evenly with the spice paste, ensuring all surfaces are covered well.

  4. Grill the Tuna: Preheat your toaster oven to a medium heat setting. Place the seasoned tuna in the oven and grill for approximately 30 minutes, or until the fish is fully cooked and has developed a nice charred exterior. The cooking time may vary depending on the size and thickness of the tuna.

  5. Serve: Once the tuna is cooked to your liking, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy this flavorful grilled tuna with your favorite side dishes or as part of a larger meal.
