Balado Sapi Kentang Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 300 grams of beef
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 kaffir lime leaves
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • For the Spice Paste:
    • 8 shallots
    • 4 cloves of garlic
    • 1 large red chili
    • 3 curly red chilies
    • Salt and sugar to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef:

    • Start by boiling the beef with a piece of green papaya to tenderize it. Once cooked, let the beef cool down, then cut it into bite-sized pieces according to your preference.
  2. Make the Spice Paste:

    • Blend the shallots, garlic, large red chili, and curly red chilies into a smooth paste using a food processor. Set aside the spice paste.
  3. Cook the Spice Paste:

    • Heat some oil in a pan. Add the blended spice paste and sauté until fragrant.

    • Peel and cut the potatoes into chunks. Fry the potato pieces until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Combine Ingredients:

    • Once the beef is well-coated with the spice paste, add the fried potato chunks to the pan. Mix thoroughly to ensure the potatoes are well integrated with the beef and spice mixture.
  7. Season and Serve:

    • Adjust the seasoning by adding salt and sugar according to your taste preferences. Taste and adjust if necessary. Once everything is well-mixed and cooked through, turn off the heat.
