Telur Dadar Lada Hitam (Black Pepper Omelette)

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs, beaten and cooked into an omelette, then sliced into thin strips
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 head of cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 15 green bird’s eye chilies, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons Saori black pepper sauce
  • 1 teaspoon bottled chili sauce
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Omelette: Beat the eggs and cook them without any seasoning. Once cooked, slice the omelette into thin strips and set aside.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics: Heat a little oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion and sliced green chilies until fragrant.
  3. Add the Cabbage: Add the thinly sliced cabbage to the pan, stirring well. Add a little water to help soften the cabbage.
  4. Combine and Season: Once the cabbage is wilted, add the sliced omelette to the pan along with the Saori black pepper sauce, bottled chili sauce, ground black pepper, salt, and sugar. Stir everything together, adjusting the seasoning to taste.
  5. Reduce the Liquid: Cook the mixture until the liquid has reduced and the flavors are well combined.
  6. Serve: Your Black Pepper Omelette is now ready to be enjoyed. Serve hot as a side dish or a main course with steamed rice.

Notes:

This recipe is a delightful blend of spicy and savory flavors, perfect for those who enjoy a bit of heat in their meals. The combination of black pepper sauce and fresh chilies provides a robust kick, balanced by the sweetness of the onions and the mildness of the cabbage. Adjust the chili sauce and black pepper according to your heat preference, and enjoy this Indonesian-inspired dish with your loved ones.
