Balado Telur Dadar Irit
Ingredients:
- 3 large eggs
- 1 medium onion
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 kaffir lime leaves
- 1 small piece of ginger
- For the Spice Paste:
- 4 shallots
- 3 cloves garlic
- 5 small chili peppers (cabe rawit) and 2 red chilies
- 3 candlenuts (kemiri)
- Salt, to taste
- Mushroom broth powder (optional)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- Cooking oil, as needed
- Water, as needed
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Eggs:
- Beat the eggs thoroughly in a bowl. Heat a non-stick pan with a little oil and pour in the beaten eggs to make small omelets. Alternatively, you can cook one large omelet and cut it into small pieces once cooked.
-
Cook the Spice Paste:
- Blend the shallots, garlic, small chili peppers, red chilies, and candlenuts into a smooth paste.
- Heat some oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the spice paste and sauté until it becomes fragrant and the oil starts to separate.
-
Add Aromatics:
- Slice the onion and add it to the pan along with the bay leaves, kaffir lime leaves, and ginger. Sauté until the onion softens and becomes translucent.
-
Combine the Ingredients:
- Add the small omelet pieces to the pan with the spice mixture. Stir well to coat the eggs with the spices.
-
Season the Dish:
- Pour in the sweet soy sauce and a splash of water to help the flavors meld together. Adjust the seasoning with salt and, if desired, a bit of mushroom broth powder for extra depth.
-
Finish and Serve:
- Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes to allow the flavors to infuse into the eggs. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
- Once done, remove from heat and serve hot. Enjoy your Balado Telur Dadar Irit with steamed rice or as a flavorful side dish.
This Balado Telur Dadar Irit offers a delightful combination of spicy, sweet, and savory flavors, making it a fantastic choice for a quick and satisfying meal.
