- 500 grams of medium-sized shrimp – cleaned, heads and tails removed

For the Spice Paste:
- 6 bird’s eye chilies
- 3 red chilies
- 5 shallots
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 tomato
- 1 pack of shrimp paste – I use ABC brand
- Salt, sugar, ground pepper, and seasoning to taste

- Clean the shrimp by removing the heads and tails. Rinse thoroughly and drain.
- Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes. Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu until it is half-cooked and golden brown. Set aside.

Prepare the Petai Beans:
- Wash the petai beans and cut them according to your preference. Set aside.

Make the Spice Paste:
- Blend or grind together the bird’s eye chilies, red chilies, shallots, garlic, tomato, and shrimp paste until you achieve a smooth paste.

- Heat some oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the spice paste and sauté until fragrant.

- Add the petai beans to the pan and stir-fry briefly.
- Incorporate the shrimp into the pan and cook until they turn pink.
- Add a splash of water, and season with salt, sugar, ground pepper, and seasoning as needed. If using, add oyster sauce to enhance the flavor.

- Gently fold in the pre-fried tofu cubes.
