Tahu Cabe Garam Recipe

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Firm Tofu 2 pieces
Bird’s Eye Chili 7 pieces
Garlic 2 cloves
Royko Seasoning to taste
Salt to taste
Cooking Oil as needed
Fried Shallots optional, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Slice the firm tofu into bite-sized pieces. Heat cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat, then fry the tofu until it’s halfway cooked and golden brown. Remove and set aside.

  2. Make the Spice Paste: In a mortar and pestle, or using a blender, combine the bird’s eye chili, garlic, Royko seasoning, and salt. Grind until you achieve a smooth paste.

  3. Sauté the Paste: In the same pan used for frying tofu, add a bit more oil if necessary and sauté the spice paste over medium heat until fragrant, approximately 2-3 minutes.

  4. Combine: Gently add the fried tofu to the sautéed spice paste. Stir to coat the tofu evenly with the flavors.

  5. Taste and Adjust: Check the seasoning and adjust to your preference, adding more salt or Royko if desired.

  6. Serve: Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with fried shallots if you like. Enjoy your Tahu Cabe Garam hot as a delicious side or main dish!

This savory and spicy tofu dish is an ultimate delight for chili lovers, showcasing the beautiful balance of heat and flavor.
