Description:

Every year in May, there’s a joyous tradition in our household – a big Shrimp Boil! Inspired by the flavors of Old Bay, this recipe brings together a medley of succulent shrimp, hearty potatoes, savory smoked sausage, and sweet corn, all infused with a spicy kick that perfectly captures the essence of spring. So roll up your sleeves, gather your loved ones, and get ready to dig in to this delicious feast!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 cups beer
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • 8 large shrimp, in shells
  • 2 onions, quartered
  • 8 small potatoes
  • 4 ears of corn, shucked

Instructions:

Step Description
1 In an 8-quart stock pot, bring Old Bay, salt, water, and beer to a rolling boil.
2 Add potatoes and onions to the pot, and let them cook over high heat for 8 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
3 After 8 minutes, introduce the smoked sausage to the pot, continuing to cook on high for an additional 5 minutes, ensuring all ingredients are infused with the aromatic seasoning.
4 As the flavors intensify, it’s time to add the corn to the pot, letting it boil along with the rest of the ingredients for 7 minutes, until it reaches a tender perfection.
5 Now, for the pièce de résistance – the shrimp! Add the shrimp to the pot, shells and all, and let them cook for 4 minutes, until they turn pink and plump, soaking up all the delicious flavors of the boil.
6 Once everything is perfectly cooked and infused with the tantalizing flavors of Old Bay, drain the cooking liquid from the pot, and pour the contents into several large bowls or shallow pails, ready to be enjoyed by all.
7 To add an extra pop of flavor, sprinkle the contents with additional Old Bay seasoning, ensuring each bite is bursting with spicy goodness.
