Telur Puyuh Tahu Balado Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 20 quail eggs, boiled, lightly fried, and set aside
  • 1 block Chinese tofu, cut into cubes, fried until half-cooked, and set aside
  • 10 curly chilies
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 5 shallots
  • 3 kaffir lime leaves
  • 1 stalk lemongrass, bruised
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional, omit if unavailable)
  • Salt and sugar to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Spice Paste: Begin by blending the garlic, shallots, and curly chilies into a fine paste.

  2. Cook the Spice Paste: Heat a pan and add the sesame oil. If you’re skipping the sesame oil, you can use regular cooking oil. Add the blended spice paste to the pan and sauté until fragrant.

  3. Add Tomatoes and Aromatics: Incorporate the diced tomato, kaffir lime leaves, bruised lemongrass, and bay leaves into the pan. Stir well and cook until the tomato softens.

  4. Season: Add sugar and salt to taste. Adjust the seasoning as needed.

  5. Combine Ingredients: Once the spice paste has cooked through and the flavors are well-blended, gently fold in the fried quail eggs and tofu cubes. Stir to coat everything evenly with the spice mixture.

  6. Serve: Once all ingredients are well combined and heated through, remove from heat. Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy!

This Telur Puyuh Tahu Balado is a delightful Indonesian dish featuring flavorful quail eggs and tofu in a spicy and aromatic sauce. Perfect for a savory meal or as a side dish!
